To facilitate the communication between crew and helms, LYC now utilizes a separate web service, called Google Groups. This web service is for club members and alumni. To participate in this service follow the instructions below. Signing up for this service is highly recommended since the club uses this site to communicate information on events and boat sales. Using the Google Groups service is free.
Instructions:
1: If you are not a member of Google Groups, you will need to sign up as a member. To sign up, please go to the following link:

Then click on the link "Sign Up" for Google Groups on the right hand of the page. Follow the instructions and register your email. It costs nothing to join. Google will send you a verification email. You will need to read the verification email and click on the link provided to complete the registration process.
2: Once a member of Google Groups, go to Google and sign in.
Then click on the link:
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/lycconnect
3: Add LYC Connect Google Groups to your Favorites to locate quickly.
[Skip steps 4-6 if you are already receiving LYC Connect email.]
4: Click on "Apply for Membership".
5: On the new page, select the email settings. This sets the frequency of posting notifications. We recommend the “Email” setting to provide an email immediately when a message is posted to LYC Connect summary of all the day’s postings.
6: When finished adjusting the email settings, click at the bottom of the page to submit application to join the group. The site manager will accept you within the next day or two.

User Tips
Trouble Finding Google Sign In
When opening www.google.com, we are often directed to the Nigeria or other country version of Google. Under the search entry box, there is a link "Go to Google.com". This link will take you to a Google site with the Sign In link in the upper right corner of the window. From this link, follow instructions to sign in or register.
Trouble Finding LYC Connect After Sign In
Once registered and signed in to Google, click on "My Account" in the upper right corner. Click on "Groups" to get a listing of groups that you belong to (including LYC_Connect). Once at LYC Connect, save the home page to your Favorites.
Changing Email Settings
Go to the LYC Connect Google site. On the right side there is a link titled "Edit my membership". After selecting this link, you will be presented with 4 email options. With the 4th option, "Email", you will receive an email immediately when each message or response is posted to the web site. We recommend this setting because the email arrives in a normal email format and is easier to read.
